OUTLINE: The objective of this class is to create an environment where owner/captains of large personal watercraft cruising the Atlantic & Caribbean learn defensive firearms techniques.
The two principal focuses addressed are repelling pirates/boarders/thieves, and gun-fighting/room clearing skills for once your craft has been boarded.
The ultimate focus weapon for this is the Shotgun, however we utilize semi-auto carbines and pistols as well.
Topics covered in this course include:
- 1) Safety Discussion
- 2) Choice of Firearms by Task
- 3) Ammunition by Firearm - Task Driven
- 4) Shooting Skills from a Moving Target at a Moving Target,
- Moving and Shooting - Multiple Targets
- 5) Fire/Ammunition Control
- 6) Reloading under Stress & Malfunction Drills
- 7) Transitioning between Principal and Secondary Firearms
- 8) Tactical Movement on Board/Room Clearing/Teamwork Drills &
- Close Contact Shooting
- 9) Low Light Shooting Scenarios & Threat Identification
Course is 6 hours and the cost is $500. per person
Requirements:
- 12 gauge Shotgun with a sling
- Rifle or Semi-Auto Carbine (caliber .223 or larger) with a sling (optional)
- Handgun with Holster and minimum of 2 magazines or speed loaders w/ magazine pouch
- Eye & ear protection
- 2 rifle magazines with a capacity of 20+ rounds
- 50 rounds of low recoil 12 gauge 00 buckshot
- 100+ rounds of rifle ammunition
- 50+ rounds of frangible handgun ammunition
